In March 2020 amid the impending Covid outbreak, Ausfab Group quickly identified the need for retailers to safeguard their store staff from possible airborne infection with protective acrylic screens. Our proactive approach involved reaching out to our existing customer base to inquire about their preparedness for what would become a crucial safety measure.
To our surprise, our major client confessed that they had not considered this aspect but expressed keen interest if we could develop a solution that could accommodate the diverse range of counters present in their 3500 retail outlets.
Responding promptly, Ausfab designed an affordable and easily installable semi-permanent screen. Leveraging our client’s rapid response, we secured nearly all available materials across Australia. Within a mere 8 days of initial contact, we established a mass production line, commenced deliveries, and manufactured 2000 screens within 14 days. In just 30 days, we successfully produced over 10,000 sneeze guards, making this retailer one of the first in Australia to complete the rollout of protective screens throughout their entire retail network.
To this day, our screens remain in active use, effectively shielding the retailer’s staff. Ausfab’s ability to swiftly respond to the Covid outbreak enabled our client to prioritize staff protection while sustaining their operations amidst the pandemic.
As a testament to our swift and effective action, Ausfab was honoured to receive an “Excellence in Safety” award from our esteemed customer. This recognition serves as a testament to our commitment to ensuring the well-being of retail staff during the Covid pandemic.
